Man killed in shooting at Charlotte apartment complex: (By Steve Lyttle, slyttle@charlotteobserver.com) Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say some sort of meeting among three men in an apartment complex parking lot ended in death for one man early Tuesday morning.

The shooting happened a few minutes after midnight at the Steeplechase Apartments, on Wallace Road off East Independence Boulevard.

9-year-old NC girl survives 2 days in car wreckage: (The Associated Press) A 9-year-old North Carolina girl pinned in a wrecked car for almost two days ate Pop-Tarts and Gatorade to help her survive the single-car crash that killed her father, police and relatives said on Monday.

Jordan Landon of Cove City was airlifted to a hospital Sunday night after rescue teams cut her out of the 1995 Chevrolet Monte Carlo that had been upside down in a culvert since Friday night, the North Carolina Highway Patrol said. Killed was 39-year-old Douglas Landon, police said.

Police raided a gray mobile home Friday on Detroiter Street in Huntersville, saying they were looking for weapons and other items. That was in connection with the alleged beating and robbery, which had happened a week earlier.

Man found stabbed in hotel breezeway: (Staff Reports) A man was stabbed several times at an airport motel early Monday and now police are questioning the woman they believe was with him.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said they found the man in the breezeway of the motel at 4230 Keeter Drive off Little Rock Road in Charlotte. They followed a trail of blood back to his room, and used motel records to determine a woman was in the room with him, according to WBTV.
