NC teacher faces sex charges after student essay: "(By MEG KINNARD, Associated Press) A former high school band teacher in North Carolina was arrested on sex charges after a young woman wrote in an essay in her college newspaper that he got her pregnant - and took her to get an abortion - when she was his student.The essay, 'I had an affair with my high school teacher,' used some fake names but identified the Winston-Salem school, and the principal there tipped off authorities. It was originally written for a composition class at North Carolina Central University and appeared in the campus paper this month as part of an annual special section."

S.C. father, son get life in prison: "(By Steve Lyttle, slyttle@charlotteobserver.com) A father and his son from York, S.C., will spend the rest of their lives in prison, after their convictions in federal court on cocaine trafficking charges, according to federal prosecutors.The U.S. Attorney's Office says Silas Mobley Jr., 56, and Marvin Suntate Mobley, 32, were sentenced Thursday in Charlotte. They had been found guilty last Aug. 9 by a jury of conspiring to distribute, and possession with intent to distribute at least 5 kilograms of cocaine. The charges stem from their activities between 2004 and October 2009, prosecutors say."
