Pedestrian carrying beer killed in Clover crash: "(By Andrew Dys, adys@heraldonline.com) A pedestrian carrying a case of beer and walking in the middle of U.S. 321 in Clover died late Friday after he was hit by a car, according to authorities.

Lawrence Douglas Sloan Jr., 43, of 115 Cloverleaf Drive, was walking south in the southbound lane of traffic lane around 6:30 p.m. New Year’s Eve when he was hit by a 2005 Kia heading southbound, said Capt. David Dover of the Clover Police Department. Investigators found Sloan had just been to a nearby convenience store, where he bought the case of beer, Dover said."
