Woman dies after Independence Blvd. wreck: "(By Steve Lyttle and Meghan Cooke, slyttle@charlotteobserver.com) A woman died after a wreck that closed outbound East Independence Boulevard for about four hours this morning.
The wreck happened shortly after 10:30 a.m. in the 3200 block of Independence Boulevard, near the Wendover Road-Eastway Drive intersection. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said the driver of a Dodge Caravan minivan was entering the boulevard from a gas station and merging left when he struck a 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser that was traveling in the center lane."
